Why did Christians stop using the Pentagram in favor of the Cross & what made it go from symbol of truth to?

judaism deemed it an "evil" symbol and christianity followed by turning this symbol of protection into something perverted. the pentacle/pentagram symbolic of the elements {fire, water,air, earth}and the 5th point being the spirit/soul. pentagram-point down, symbolizes energy being drawn down into the spirit, point up--energy being released to above. the equal arm cross was stolen from paganism by christianity, in paganism it represents the 4 directions{north, west, east, south} and also the 4 elements. in many eastern religions it represents also the "4 corners of the soul" chakras. christianity turned this into a symbol of suffering as you put it. very true!
