Shuld i ask him or leave it to fate?

ok so me and my ex have been out for almost 2 months, but we both really love each other, we broke up because of my mother not approving of him at first but like she says he grew on her, but he hasnt really gotten over my mom not approving of him in the first place, but aniway we have be speaking through the entire break up and i want to try again and he has mentioned that he's been thinking about it, shuld i ask him to try again or leave it and see what happens, all that if were meant to be thing?
